Squealock Systems, Inc recognizes that its customers, visitors and users, want to know about their privacy. Squealock Systems, Inc provides this Privacy Policy to help you make an informed decision about whether to use or continue using the Squealock Site, and the Squealock mobile application. If you do not agree to our practices, please do not use the Squealock Site, mobile application, or service. This Privacy Policy is incorporated into and is subject to the Squealock application's Terms of Service. Your use of the Squealock Site, mobile application, and any information you provide to Squealock Systems, Inc through the application or this website remains subject to the terms of this Privacy Policy and our Terms of Service. This Privacy Policy is part of Squealock Systems, Inc's Terms of Service and covers the treatment of user information, including personally identifying information, obtained by Squealock Systems, Inc, including information obtained when you access the Squealock Site, use the Squealock application or any other software provided by Squealock Systems, Inc. This Privacy Policy does not apply to the practices of companies that Squealock Systems, Inc does not own or control, or to individuals whom Squealock Systems, Inc does not employ or manage, including any of the third parties to which Squealock Systems, Inc may disclose user information as set forth in this Privacy Policy.
Data We Store
Squealock Systems, Inc.'s servers store information such as:
- Your Squealock user ID (SLID)
- Your push notification name (if applicable)
- Your encrypted messages, photos, videos, voice memos, and files
- Your device Operating System type ( Android or iOS)
Visiting this Website:
When you visit the Squealock website, we may send one or more cookies to your computer that uniquely identifies your browser. We may also be able to view your browser type, browser language, referring / exit pages and URLs, platform type, pages viewed and the order of those pages, the amount of time spent on particular pages, and the date and time of your request.
Transparency
Because Squealock is designed to retain very little information, we are only able to turn over very limited data, if law enforcement is able to make the case about a person of interest, with a court order or valid legal document. Under those circumstances we may give access to data such as:
- Squealock user IDs (SLID)
- Users' encrypted passwords
- Encrypted Messages, photos, videos, voice memos and files that can only be decrypted by the recipient.
Data We do not collect
Squealock Systems, Inc. does not collect your bank card information (including name, address and card number) when you make purchases on Google Play or through the Appstore. When you pay to use our service, all financial transactions are handled by Google when using an Android device, and by Apple when using an iOS device. Both Google and Apple are not able to see your communication on Squealock, as messages and calls are end-to-end encrypted. When you do pay for the service directly on our website, we do not permanently store any credit card information once the data is processed. Squealock Systems, Inc. does not collect names, addresses or other contact information from its users' mobile address book or contact lists. We also do not store messages, photos, videos, and voice memos sent while using the "Stealth" option, as messages self-destruct once read.While using the Squealock service, users compose their messages, which are securely sent to our servers, and routed to the intended recipient.
Data Security
Squealock Systems, Inc. takes critical steps to preserve the integrity and security of your personal information. We cannot, however, ensure or warrant the security of any information you transmit to Squealock and you do so at your own risk. Although Squealock is end-to-end encrypted, using unsecured Wi-Fi or other unprotected networks to submit messages through the Squealock Service is never recommended. Once we receive your transmission of information, Squealock Systems, Inc. makes commercially reasonable efforts to ensure the security of our systems. However, please note that this is not a guarantee that such information may not be accessed, disclosed, altered, or destroyed by breach of any of our physical, technical, or managerial safeguards. If Squealock Systems, Inc. learns of a security systems breach, then we may attempt to notify you electronically so that you can take appropriate protective steps. Squealock Systems, Inc. may post a notice on the Squealock site, social media pages (Facebook, Twitter) or through the Squealock app, if a security breach occurs.
The Type of information we use
Any Personally Identifiable Information such as Squealock user ID that you voluntarily disclose on Squealock may be used by other users of the Squealock messaging application to communicate with you. We do not use your mobile phone number or other Personally Identifiable Information to send commercial or marketing messages. We may use certain non-personally-identifiable information (such as anonymous user usage data, operating system type, etc.) to improve the quality of our service and to create new features, promotions, functionality, and services. We may use cookies and log file information to monitor metrics such as total number of visitors, pages viewed, etc. We do not sell or share your Personally Identifiable Information (such as email address) with other t hird-party companies for their commercial or marketing use. In the event that Squealock Systems, Inc. is acquired by or merged with a third party entity, we reserve the right to transfer or assign the information we have collected from our users as part of such merger, acquisition, sale, or other change of control. In the unlikely event of our bankruptcy, insolvency, reorganization, receivership, or assignment for the benefit of creditors, or the application of laws or equitable principles affecting creditors' rights generally, we may not be able to control how your information is treated, transferred, or used. You will nonetheless be informed of any changes in ownership through our social network pages (Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn), if this were to happen.
Your Options
If you do not agree with our Privacy Policy or Terms of Service, please uninstall the Squealock mobile application and discontinue use of the Squealock Service; your continued usage of the Squealock Service will signify your assent to and acceptance of our Privacy Policy and Terms of Service. Our Audience
Our services are directed to or intended to be used by persons over the age of 18. For that reason, Squealock Systems, Inc. does not knowingly collect or maintain Personally Identifiable Information or non-personally-identifiable information on the Squealock Site or Squealock Service from persons under 18 years of age. Anyone under that age threshold is therefore NOT allowed to use our applications at any time or in any manner. If Squealock Systems, Inc. learns that Personally Identifiable Information of persons under 18 years of age has been collected though our app or site, then Squealock Systems, Inc. may deactivate the account and/or make the status submissions inaccessible.
International Users
SQUEALOCK SYSTEMS, INC. (“we,” “our,” or “us”) respects your privacy and is committed to protecting it through our compliance with applicable privacy laws and regulations, including the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), Japanese Act on the Protection of Personal Information (APPI), and other relevant international data protection laws. This policy describes the types of information we may collect or that you may provide when you install, access, or use the SQUEALOCK SYSTEMS, INC. secure communication application "Safi" (“the Application”) and our practices for collecting, using, maintaining, protecting, and disclosing that information.
User Information and Anonymity:Users are provided with unique user IDs to maintain anonymity, and the ID can be changed at any time.
Users can create, manage, and delete their accounts, including all associated content, within the Application at their discretion. Files and messages you have sent can also be selectively deleted by hard pressing on them and pressing the "Delete for Everyone" option. Users can delete received files from their devices, but not from the sender's device. To fully delete your account, log into the application on your mobile device, then press the "Delete My Account" Option on the Settings screen. All your data (messages, text, images, videos, voice memos, files, userID, password) will be destroyed and cannot be recovered once the deletion is initiated. Please also note that other users may create an account with your previously used userID once the account is deleted.
Data Collection and Use:
SQUEALOCK SYSTEMS, INC. does not collect any personal information from its users, maintaining the highest level of user privacy. All communications, including messages, pictures, videos, voice memos, and files, are end-to-end encrypted, ensuring no unauthorized access during transmission.
SQUEALOCK SYSTEMS, INC. does not share user information or any user-generated content with third parties.Information and content created by users within the application are solely under the control and discretion of the respective users.
Data Security:
We implement strong security measures to ensure the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of user information and content. In the unlikely event of a security breach, affected users will be promptly notified in compliance with applicable laws.
User Rights:
GDPR Compliance: Users have the right to access, rectify, or erase their personal data, object to or restrict processing, and request data portability.
APPI Compliance: In accordance with Japanese law, users have the right to request disclosure, correction, or suspension of use of their personal data.
Since SQUEALOCK SYSTEMS, INC. does not collect personal data, exercising these rights typically entails the user managing their data within the Application or seeking support through designated channels.International Data Transfers:
SQUEALOCK SYSTEMS, INC. operates with a decentralized structure, ensuring no central storage or processing facility. Data is not transferred internationally unless required by the user’s actions within the Application, like sending messages to users in different locations.
All data transfers comply with the necessary encryption and security protocols to ensure user privacy and data protection.
User Consent:
By using the Application, users consent to this privacy policy and the secure and anonymous nature of the communication services provided by SQUEALOCK SYSTEMS, INC. Users are advised to review this policy periodically for any changes, as continued use of the Application after changes implies acceptance of those changes.
